Do you struggle to find clothing that fits properly? Do you often feel like you have borrowed some else’s attire? Feel the headache coming on already?
The struggle is real!
I have been amazed at the number of women I have met who are petite. Being petite myself, I can relate to the frustration of not finding things that fit properly. What has surprised me even more is how many women did not realise they fall under the petite category!
Unfortunately, many women believe that being petite is being below a certain size, particularly a small size. But, in fact, petite has nothing to do with weight… it refers to height. Petite is a term used to describe women that are 5’3” (160cm) or shorter. Petite women come in all shapes and sizes, so if you are a size 8 or a size 14 it really doesn’t matter. The reality is you should be looking at clothing that has been cut for your stature.
Being petite shouldn’t stop you finding what you want; many stores are making petite ranges available now – yay for that!
However, if you do purchase outside of the petite range, then here are few handy tips you can consider:
Keep your clothing proportions to your proportion size. So; basically, keep it balanced. If the bottom is wide then keep the top smaller or vice versa
Keep your clothes fitted, not too tight but not too big or you can look overwhelmed
A column of colour can elongate you visually
Roll up sleeve or pants, to show some skin
Pay attention to the width of shoulders
Wear pointy shoes; fabulous way to add length
Try wearing shoes the same colour as your pants
Avoid too much fabric
Keep things simple
